Happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Even though I'm Welsh, I am an American Citizen and I do celebrate Thanksgiving Holiday, with loved ones. It's a time to give thanks, give thanks to those we love and care about.

Well, time to unbutton your jeans to allow that one more small slice of pumpkin or apple pie into your mouth.

How many of us feel and will feel like this today?

Our Thanksgiving meal is all over and done with, now it's time to curl up on the sofa and indulge in a movie. My thanksgiving day actually started yesterday, with preparing all the vegetables, setting out the serving dishes and whatnot.

Then up at 6 to prep the turkey and pop it in the oven, then see to my waking girls and start the cooking, as our Thanksgiving dinner was set for 1pm.

We had turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potato, green bean casserole, homemade thyme, rosemary & sage stuffing, freshly made cranberry sauce, carrots and rutabaga and yummy homemade gravy.

For dessert, the traditional, pumpkin pie, apple pie and I made, single serving, no bake pumpkin pie in mason jars.

I wish all my readers a Happy Thanksgiving and take the time today to give thanks so someone you care for.

Thor : The Dark World

Well, Jason and I finally went to see, 'Thor : The Dark World', last night and my goodness what can I say other than,

I Loved it.'t give in and see any, previews of the movies either, so each scene was new, and for once during a movie, I didn't worry about my little girls at home with the babysitter. That's how much it held my attention.

Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the 1st Thor movie, even if it was a bit cheesy, but after watching the 2nd Thor movie, it bay far beats the first.

Not only has is quite the cast, quite a few British Actors too.  I loved Anthony Hopkins voice, I can hear hints of his Welsh accent creeping out, which gives me lovely memories of home ( He's Welsh - I'm Welsh).
Rene Russo has a quick, but good fight scene - way to go Frigga!!

Chris Hemsworth has grown into his character; Thor. Also, there's the minus, that's over the top huge shoulder cape he wore in the first movie ( this new movie the over the top width of shoulder cape is scaled down) and with his long flowing richer color locks, his bright blue eyes and dreamy, Australian accent, plus a shirtless scene - oh my !! Lol, Chris Hemsworth gave a pretty good all round performance.
I love the brotherly contention with Loki still rings true in this movie, yet they both have some choice one liners!

But what made the movie for me, and held my attention every time he was on screen, was Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston. Even though his scenes weren't huge, it didn't matter. Every second he is on screen - he steals it, from Thor/Chris Hemsworth. The details of  the Goldish Celtic detail of the prison cell, which Loki is held in is beautiful. The performance of Loki is superb, he has wonderful one liners, a wickedly dashing  mischievous smirk yet a heart tugging moment in his cell, when he hears the news of Frigga, his stepmother. He owns every scene he is in, and what more can we ask from  'The God of Mischief'  -  I just wished he had more screen time.

All round A Great Movie, well worth seeing on the big screen.
Go check it out.

Birthdays & Being Thankful

Do you love your birthday or feel like it's just another day?

Well My birthday was yesterday ---Woooohoo...yes,
Not really. I feel at now at the ripe age of 43...UGH ( although I still have no gray hairs- that I can say yippee to)

Having many, many sleepless nights of late, bless my little tinkers, Seren & Carys are ill at the same time

Lets say having slept on the sofa with Carys again, as she had a temperature and coughing all night long, I wasn't in the best of moods waking up, plus it being 'that time of month' when we ladies, transform from being harmonious - to something we don't recognize lol, so, I found it hard to enjoy 'My Birthday.'

Is it just another day?
Do we expect a huge birthday surprise?
Do we expect anything at all?
Do we expect Chocolate, even if you say you didn't want any - OH HECK YES on THAT ONE!

As I get older, I feel like it's just another day, but deep inside I want to be whisked away on a fabulous birthday surprise (which for my sister-in-law's 30th b-day she went away for a couple days with friends - than her hubby met her at the airport, then took her to NEW YORK !!)

Now that's what I call a birthday. Not that we expect that every year - now that would be silly.
But sometimes, we ladies, just want a somewhat not perfect birthday, but one in which we didn't have to drop hints of what we want, or feeling like like UGH PUG  all day!

I know with my girls being sick, there wasn't much we could do. Jason, did come home early from college, wrapped the girls up and went out to let the girls choose a birthday cake. Asked what I wanted for dinner, my reply was to just get frozen pizza. I honestly didn't want to bother. A shame I know.

What did I get - well a couple of weeks ago, I did buy myself a pair of boots on sale from Target.
My dad, is sending 50 British pounds to me ( bless him , I miss him so much)
I did have a beautiful bouquet of flowers and balloons from my father-in-law, Randy & mother-in-law, Charliss.
A bunch of flowers, and a small bag of chocolates ( which the girls devoured) from a friend at my church.
A lovely Skype call with my sister, which she made me laugh :)
Call from my Son & Daughter in Utah.
Email from my daughter in Wales.
Message from my bro-in-law Mark ( who also shares the same birthday as me)
Email from a friend, June at church
Text from my friend Jessica at church.
(Thank you for remembering)

I must say, I was determined to 'Not' enjoy my birthday. I most definitely had the wrong frame of mind. Even I forget birthdays sometimes, and I feel terrible, because no-one wants to be forgotten on their special day, their Birthday.

But what I must say, is that I am THANKFUL to my hubby, Jason for taking the girls for that hour, washing the dishes after dinner. My darling Seren, who chose the extremely bright pink frosted birthday cake, and the matching neon candles and singing with a smiling face - Happy Birthday and insisting I sing along too!! LOL..
And Jason, not giving up on me & eventually cracking my stubborn shell and making me laugh!!

Laughter is the best medicine - that is what I needed last night.

So to finish, I just wanted to give thanks for my loved ones who, stick with me and make me laugh, give hugs when I need them.
And  a hubby who loves me, and who bought me a much needed winter North face coat for the really cold winters here.

Birthdays we should remember our mothers, who spent many hours, pushing and being completely worn out after giving birth to us. That wonderful moment when they held me/you in their arms for the very first time. This is something we should maybe remember about our birthdays, I know I will from now on. Thank you mam & dad for bringing me into your family, mam for the hard labor you endured, and I do and did miss you singing, Happy Birthday to me on my special day. ( I miss you mom- I pray you were signing up in Heaven)

THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU.
I LOVE YOU ALL.

So to those who share a birthday the same days as me
November 20th

Happy Belated Birthday

Here are some people who share the same birthday as me.

Medley Of Christmas Trees.

Today is Monday November 18th 2013 and there are only
36 days until Christmas!

ARGH!!!

I'm behind on figuring what to get as Gifts this year, but as you can see from the
Medley of Christmas Trees, the Decorations are somewhat covered.
(Only because I have to teach a craft class on making Christmas Trees)

I won't be posting for every tree I made, I have done a post for the 'Whimiscal Trees', & 'Book Pages Christmas Tree', which are in this picture. As for the others I will just give you a general run down on 'how I made them'.

Green Cone Tree

First I made a template for a large cone and  smaller cones. I also used small  polystyrene cones from the dollar store.

This Cone Tree, I made by rolling up poster board to make a cone, hot gluing it in place, then wrapped it with Green Wrapping paper, gluing it in place with Mod Podge. Finished it off with a decoration I got from Walmart for $2 and some dollar store Christmas ribbon around the bottom.
Wood Popsicle Cone Tree

This
Popsicle Craft stick, took a little longer to  make, as I had to layer on the sticks.
I made another poster board cone, from the template. Then starting from the bottom I glued the sticks on. The first bottom layer I just stuck side by side, I didn't stagger them on top of each other.
For the second layer, I did stagger them to overlap. Keep doing this till you have the effect you want. I used 1 large bag of popsicle craft sticks & 1 small mini bag of popsicle craft sticks.

Then using a rag and small paint brush, I applied a wood stain all over and let it dry. Once dried I glued and stuck in a decoration  I got from the dollar store.

Fun Clown Hat Christmas Tree

For this tree, I used a polystyrene cone, ribbon, piece of Christmas fabric, glue gun, a button, a block scrap of wood, Mod Podge and a decoration for the topper.

All I did for this tree, I glued the cone then stuck the fabric over it. On the underside I glued ribbon on, making loops as I went. Then I cut and made smaller green loops and stuck those down and on top of the green ribbon. With the block of wood, I glued a piece of ribbon around the edge, then glued the whole cone to that. Then poked a hole in the top of the cone, popped some glue down the hole, then stuck the topper in. Add a ribbon and a  button.

Button Tree.

For this tree,I used a small block of wood, an unfinished wood  tree, I purchased from Walmart for $1.50, Bags of Buttons from Walmart about $2.50? Glue Gun, spray glue, Glitter, Ribbon.

First I glued the tree to the block of wood. Then I gave the tree a coat of spray glue and just to be safe I used my glue gun as well to glue each button on, overlaying buttons to fill in gaps. For the topper, I used red buttons and ribbon.

Spray the whole tree with  spray glue, then spinkle glitter all over. Tap off the excess and leave to dry.

Burlap Cone Tree

To make this I made a cone from poster board. A large wooden spool, scrap wood, twine, red burlap, a $2 red topper from Walmart, a thick peice of card ( I used an old book cover) glue gun & glue.

Wrap and glue your burlap to your cone. Glue your thick card/book cover to the underside of cone, hold till set. Glue the wooden spool to the scarp wood, then glue the cone to the spool, hold till set. Next use a line of glue to hold the start of the twine onto the wooden spool, wrap around, use glue to secure.

Add twine & bow around the bottom and top. then Glue the end of the topper & then stick down into your cone.
