Oour Moving Journey To Madison, WI

Here we go !!

So finally I'm sitting at my laptop, blogging about our move to Madison, WI. We have been here now 2 weeks!! How time flies right.  We left Utah on the morning of Friday 16th August, Jason is driving the moving truck and the car, while I followed in our car with the girls and arrived in Madison on Monday afternoon. We stopped on the way, to sleep in cheap hotels and in all fairness they were satisfactory. The entire trip was hard work and very tiring, but on the journey we got to see some great scenery and sites.. here are some of what we saw..

Long open roads is what we had...and quite a few fields of Towering white wind machines.. Which were very impressive!  And the scenery was breathtaking.

The drive took its toll on both Jason and I  a long drive and all said  and done, Seren & Carys did well with the laborious drive. Although they did have a DVD to watch and kindles, toys, books etc to entertain them.... With the odd whines and cries...... While Lil ole me.. Had the joy of listening to the movies that played on the DVD player, and trying to calm and stop crying and yes Seren's feet in Carys's face...LOL

Back to long open roads and fields of nothing much, that was until we reached Nebraska...then there were tons and tons of corn fields!!

LOL.. We stopped at a gas station the first stop in Nebraska.. And this was on their sign..!!

AH QUIET TIME AT LAST..MAMMY CAN LISTEN TO THE RADIO AT LAST!!

At first glance I thought the sign for the next town said 'GOTHOM'.. It actually says Gothenburg...lol I wonder where the writer of BATMAN actually got the name GOTHAM CITY from?

Some cool sites I saw and names of towns we passed through I saw on the drive.

From afar this bridge looked like Pirate ships.. and the closer I got.. the cooler it looked!!

NOW..LOOK CLOSELY AT THE GAS STATION NAME!!!

WHO ON EARTH GAVE IT THAT NAME!! SERIOUSLY!! FOR SHAME LOL

We passed through Dubuque .. And crossed the Mississippi river !! So cool.

WOO-HOO !!!
At last.. Wisconsin...

Now how cool is this.... An Amish horse and buggy, with people.

Well these are just a few pictures of our long drive from Utah to Wisconsin...and now comes the unpacking and organizing of of 'lil' home...posts will follow of that.

Is being Famous, a reason to act this way?

I recently read a blog article about... Here is the link; http://iamrihanna.wordpress.com/2013/08/26/dear-miley/

A Letter To Miley Cyrus.

I didn't watch the VMA'S but I watched the video of Miley's performance, on YouTube!! I was appalled at how Miley Cyrus conducted herself . I have a thirteen year old daughter, who loved to watch Hannah Montana.. And yes I even watched too and sang along at the catchy songs.... But to see how she has turned out now.. It's a sad, sad shame. Looking at her, Miley reminds me of a time when, Madonna turned heads and pushed the boundaries with her styles and music.. And Miley Cyrus, to me is doing the same thing, with her Bleached Blonde crazy haircut, to her bright red lipstick and seriously scantaly outfits...and a pull back to the 80's workout get-up.

I was a teenager when 'Like a Virgin' burst onto the music scene and Yes, I did like the song ans sang along...but now as a mother I guess we can see how it really looks. So I would like at add to the Letter to Miley Cyrus, by saying...don't try to be like someone else.. be yourself ( although she may be doing just that) which is a shame. I would urge Miley to look at how, big teddy bears and grinding up on girls and guys and her dumb tongue sticking out, gives young girls and boys the WRONG way to behave...what does she think she looks like? ...singing about getting high, sex etc etc, is not the best for young and impressionable girls...like she once was.

I can only hope that, one day Miley will see a better way to get her music out there. As for me gosh dang it I can't her song out of my head...Goodness..these songs know how to get you, hook, line and beat !!!  LOL

Repurpose The Girls Old Crib

Easy Kids Bookcase

Made from an old drop down side crib.

Carys has transitioned to a  toddler bed, so I was left with her old now not recommend to use drop down side crib!

WHAT TO DO WITH IT?
In total I made three different pieces. Will post the other two soon.

THIS IS THIS IS THE FIRST PIECE I MADE.

So first I cut off every other rung, using a cheap jigsaw from, Walmart, leaving it just the right  sized gaps I wanted.

Next I used the tried and tested and love Krylon Primer & Paint in white, let it dry. I Also did the same for a shelf I had lying around. Then once dried I painted it with Bubblegum pink :) Both crib sides & shelf took TWO coats.

On the left is the final color. Next I sewed the fabric (Walmart deal, $2 a yard), right side together. Next I started to work out the lengths I needed so the books would sit neatly and not fall out.
( I did this by using the girls' books)

Next I pinned where I wanted to sew the Velcro. The middle picture, you can see I had plenty of fabric left. I used soft easy sew on Velcro. The picture below shows where I had marked with pins, were the Velcro was to go. This took the longest to do. Between stopping to play with the girls or stopping Carys pull out the plug, stopping me in mid sewing !! Lol

Then I fitted the finished fabric with Velcro to the crib frame, used scraps of leftover material and tied them on, like a rag garland.

Here you can see how the book sits on the fabric, with the added cuddly toys, thanks to Seren :) The picture below I added the painted shelf, just so you can see the finished project. When we move I will post a picture of it in the girls new bedroom all fixed to the wall.

HERE IS THE FINISHED REPURPOSED CRIB
 NOW A KIDS BOOK HOLDER.
