SHOW'S I WATCH.

Shows I watch. I know what your thinking...Gosh Helen you watch a lot of shows...lol...I DO !! :) But I still manage to be a full time mammy  who plays with my girls, bath, and feed them etc, a full time wife too, cook, clean etc etc etc.... And do crafts, read books & write my book.. So I think I deserve down time and enjoy my shows. So take a peek at the shows I watch, and some new ones starting this Oct !! Woo-Hoo

Once I got into this show.. It grew on me...look forward to the unraveling of its  story.

LOVE IT.

CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS CW'S spin off from Vampire Diaries !!!

LOVE THIS..I love the funny quips and chemistry between, Caslte & Beckett..glad it's been renewed.

Now for those who haven't seen the mid season Finale...well wait to be shocked.....!!!

I LOVE this show...good cast..and the comical chemistry between Magarret & Dano is great!

DALLAS...I watched the original years ago..(My dad loved it too)...and I am hooked on this new Dallas, with some old cast too.. I finished watching the 2nd season & I cried like a baby, ESP since Larry HAgman did die in real life, AKA JR Ewing..so sad. But I think John -Ross ( JR & Sue Ellen Son) will make up for the loss of JR's conniving but charming character. Can't wait for Season 3..more wrangling with the Ewing & Barnes families

Now another movie genre that's right up my street. I want to read the books that this is based on, which were written by Joseph Delaney. I like the trailer for this movie..this is one to watch.

This movie is based on the story of Soloman Northup.  I love the wonderful cast they have. Again we will see if the movie stays close to the truth.. But I will most definitely watch this.

Prisoners

 A movie that will feel all too real for some people...dealing with a kidnapping of two little girls and how one of the dads- Hugh Jackman sets out to find the girls & takes revenge into his hands. Looks like a riveting, tense movie

Backstreet Boys Are All Back Together

Oh how wonderful...I loved them from when they first popped onto the music scene in 1995,

I was the a youngish age of 25! I know not that young LOL...but for me I loved their music.. And have followed them ever since. So when I heard and saw Kevin Richardson was back... And I am very HAPPY.

Henry Villas Zoo.

Today we visited the Henry Villas Zoo, in Madison,  WI.

It was an overcast day, which made walking around the zoo.. A lot better than sweating like no other. There's not tons to see or do, but I felt it was just right we spent 2hrs there and it flew by Plus get this.. It's FREE!

 They do have donations posts and boxes around the zoo, for you to donate or just buy something from the gift store, like we did. Seren got a cuddly lion and Carys got a really soft polar bear, which her daddy chose for her, as she had fallen asleep.

They have a great play area for the kids with climbing wall and rope ladder and slides..the girls loved this too.

Seren handles seeing the animals much better this year..compared to go to Hoggle Zoo, in Utah.. But this year, it was Carys' s turn to not like going to close to the animals...check out the picture of Carys by the goats LOL.

Seren loved the  tiger and lions, and insisted that  her daddy put her to sit on the tiger when they went on the carousel.

All in al,l Labor Day was a lovely day out.

New Vampire Shows

So if your a Vampire buff, you'll should already know that there are some new shows coming this fall ! TV & MOVIES, and for all those people who don't know me ( for shame ;0).... Well I'll let you in on a secret...I Love anything VAMPIRE!! And new shows...Oh Yippee!

Now lets start with what's to be a limited series starting on NBC, Friday Evening at 10pm.

DRACULA! 

Oh yippee :) This looks like it will be good. It stars Johnathan Rhys Meyers as Dracula and from watching him, In The Tudors. Which he played Henry VIII, I think he'll do a good job. Now for those who have not yet seen the preview, heres a couple of  links...Be warned it's not for the weak of stomach.

The Impaler.

Now I have come across a new MOVIE coming out Achem.. OCT 31st ! It's called 'The Implaler'. Set In Penslavainia..with High school students...I am not sure about this one.. Blood  and Guts...BUt I may end up watching..to see how it ranks up there with, Interview with a Vampire, Queen of the Damned etc......also it may give me some insight for my book, I'm writing.

Girls Toy Chest/Bench.

Repurposed ends & sides of the crib.. 

And we have a Toy Chest/ Bench.

So as always I start with prepping the wood, making my measurements and start using my jigsaw.

Below you see the ends of the crib, ready for my little hands to get hold of them and cut them up :)

I decided where I wanted the height to be on one of the crib ends, marked the legs and cut them off. This will be the back of the toy chest/bench. Now silly me, I must have deleted the next picture stage!!! But I will still walk you through it.

So for the other crib end, I turned it on its side and again measuring the height I wanted, marked the width of the crib, making sure my line was straight, and picked up the jigsaw, and cut. Then I cut it right up the middle, cutting the whole piece in half. These will make your arm rests.

  Now the next big step was to dry fit, to make sure things fit.... Then I started to build the chest part. Now given I had no work bench, just my low Dumbo garage steps, my cuts weren't exactly straight, but heck, I'm not a professional, just Lil ol freckles, trying to make something passable for my girls room LOL.

Next I pre-drilled holes where I needed to fix the pieces together. I used wood screws to fix the back and side arms together.

 So... After a couple of cuts, I had my box, so it was time to fix it to the back and sides. Then I used Gorilla Glue to glue the edges of the boxes together, then screws as well.. You can never be too safe when it comes to making something your kids are gonna use.

In the next two Pictures you can see, I have set down the hinges, so the toy chest lid can function. After measuring where I wanted them, I screwed them in. TIP.... Make sure you have them facing the right way...I didn't LOL I had to unscrew and do them again !! DUH

NOW ANOTHER TIP....

DIP YOUR SCREWS INTO WASHING DETERGENT!! IT MAKE THE SCREWS GO IN SMOOTH AND QUICK.

Next I added a spare piece of wood at the base, using wood glue and screws giving the base a lip at the bottom. Picture on the right, you can see how the chest/bench is coming together.

Now once I was happy with how it fitted I screwed the side arms into the box. Now time to paint.

I used a white primer and paint  as the chest was pine, and the crib..it was super hard wood and I didn't want to sand the whole thing first. Once that dried, I used Bubble Gum Pink (Courtesy of Walmart) Which took two coats. Once dried completely, I took sandpaper and steel wool and some elbow grease and started to DISTRESS the edges...which, boy took some time and some aching hands and elbows for hours later LOL.

  THE FINISHED PROJECT.

By adding some little detailing and pre cut wood filigree and sweet princess's crowns and castle. Also I took what scraps of material from making the girls rag swags for their room and adding them to the bottom and around the back of the arms. Then I decided to add a soft cushion, which I think tops it off..... I was happy.

HERE IT IS THE FINAL TOY CHEST/ BENCH ! IN IT"S NEW HOME.

Promised Pictures the Re-Purposed Crib

The Repurposed Crib Pictures.

So I posted a ways back about how I was going to  re-purpose Seren's & Carys' old crib. I posted the bookcase I made, but I have also made the remaining parts of the crib into a cute bench/ toy chest and a wall hanging in the girls' room & for me a useful different approach for a notice board.

I will post 1 picture on this post of the finished products, but will do a separate post for the 'how I made it'.
