Are Dandelions An Anti Cancer Wonder?

A little while I wrote a post about how I love Dandelions and how some people view these bright yellow pops of color are the most annoying and hardest weed to get rid of from your lush green grass gardens, but what these little and I'll call them flowers/herb have are wonderful health benefits.

Then this morning I read an article all about dandelions and how this garden pest or beauty may be an Anti Wonder Cancer drug. The article is a short but wonderful insight at how something frowned upon by many, may actually be of amazing use. You can read the full article HERE

Dandelions

I have loved seeing the dandelions out recently and I took the time to snap some pictures using my iPhone. All the pictures on this post are all my own!

I love Dandelions. Yes, many consider them a weed, but as a child, we'd pluck these yellow beauty's, hold them under our chins and see if we love butter!

Then the time came when they would seed - and who remembers playing what's the time Mr.Wolf with these?

What's the time Mr. Wolf - blow - 1 o'clock
What's the time Mr.Wolf - blow - 2 o'clock

And so on until the dandelion seedlings have all been blown away!

What's the time Mr. Wolf - DINNER TIME.

Kids run screaming as you chase them, trying to catch them!

I loved playing this childhood game and now, having two little girls again, later in life, I am so lucky to get to relive this childhood wonder -- All over again, and what's more wonderful is that my girls, Seren and Carys love playing in the dandelions too!

And what's more these beauties have health benefits too!

AND IF YOUR LUCKY - YOU GET A LADYBUG ON ONE!

Dandelions.

Dandelions!

A pesky weed or a healthy plant?
Many green thumbed gardeners would probably answer my question by saying,
 "They're, PESKY WEEDS".

But for me they are a pop of color amongst a field of green and when their bright color of yellow turn into those wonderful 'Puffs' of seedlings in which kids of all ages love to blow away. They become fun.

Dandelion puffs away.....

Make my wish come true someday.

I grew up with lush green lawns dotted with dandelions and daisies and buttercups!!
And for a child, that is heaven.
Buttercup and daisy chain necklaces and head crowns.
Buttercups held under our chins to 'see if we love butter or not'.
Pulling each petal off a daisy to find out if, 'he loves me, loves me not'.

But not only are dandelions fun, they have a good side too.

Whether you eat the green leaves in a salad or boil the flower heads or even make a tea. Their health benefits are great. Now I'm not saying go out to a garden and go wild picking every dandelion in sight, because unless it's your garden and you don't use any chemical pesticide, you're not going to want to use them.
(Think dog poop and pee etc)

Grow your own in a big pot, or go to an organic farmer that does grow them or just pop into a local heath food store and pick some of the green leaves up.

I love to drink dandelion tea it helps with digestion, weight loss etc and very refreshing even though it has a slight bitter taste. But add same raw organic honey and you won't notice the bitterness.

But don't just take my word for it, give the tea a try or next time your in the health food store, pick up some dandelion leaves and mix them in your salad.

American Wealth & Health!

How wise are we to how the wealthy & poor actually live? Do we really know what and how the 'average joe' lives or manages health insurance or the lack of it?

I watched both of these and it certainly OPENED my eyes  as to what 'REALLY' goes on and 'what we think we know what's going on.' With how the American Health and tax payers money is spent.

I was born and raised in Wales, Great Britain and bore 6 of my 7 children over there. 'The NHS System' -- Yes, we do pay a higher Taxes, which funds our Health Benefits.Which after a while you don't miss it (except for the high Gas prices!)

NHS (National Health System) It does give you a sense of comfort, when you get that unexpected call, saying your child had fallen and broken something or has a concussion. When there is an emergency, you don't have to worry about whether or not you should or should not go to the ER or if can make the outstanding payments afterward. But in all things there can & are downsides.

Yes, if you may need a hip replacement, you end up on a waiting list. Or you go 'Private'. Let me just say this - to be able not to worry and have to pay a slightly higher tax and have that kind of health benefit is better than not having NONE, like many American's in today's society.

I am still unsure on 'Obama Care' especially as my hubby is a full time student getting his masters, and having to work part time with no benefits and we don't qualify for state help -- it looks bleak. Do we pay a high 'you have to have Obama Care' or pay the penalty fee??? UGH is what I feel.

How do you feel about all of this? How do you feel about how the Government is handling things?

All I know is that, 'WE' are the ones who ultimately pay - Literally & Physically!
